Humboldt General Hospital bid farewell to one of its medical practitioners Jan. 22.
Sandra Deveny, APRN-C, retired after 2.5 years at the local facility, and more than 30 years in the nursing profession.
The longtime local resident said her decision has been bittersweet. She will enjoy spending time traveling and enjoying some new hobbies, but said she will also miss her patients and co-workers.
"I have some long established relationships that are special to me," she said.
Deveny came to Winnemucca 17 years ago. She initially worked as this area's state community health nurse.
Following a position in Reno, she worked at Battle Mountain General Hospital's rural health clinic for three years before moving her practice to Winnemucca.
"Winnemucca is a wonderful community," she told a group of well-wishers who assembled for her retirement reception at Humboldt General Hospital. "I've always felt very welcome here."
Deveny said she also enjoyed finishing her career at HGH.
"It's been very rewarding and exciting to see the growth of Humboldt General Hospital and to see how the facility has prioritized the needs of patients in that growth."[[In-content Ad]]
