HGH EMS to sponsor CPR training for healthcare providers

WINNEMUCCA - This Thursday, Winnemucca emergency personnel will sponsor a CPR training for healthcare providers who need to certify for the first time or who need to update their certification.

From 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 6, Humboldt General Hospital's Emergency Medical Services Rescue Department will host "Healthcare Provider CPR" at the ambulance station located adjacent to the hospital.

The four-hour training is open to all medical and emergency first response personnel, those who plan to apply to EMT Basic, CNA, nursing and POST programs, and family or professional caregivers. This is not a first-aid class.

Participants will learn the process of CPR, mouth to mask and bag valve mask use. Choking, stroke recognition and AED use also are covered.

Cost is $35 and does not include a text.
