HGH EMS Rescue announces free CPR AED training for community residents

What about Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs)? Are you up to speed on their use?

Humboldt General Hospital Emergency Medical Services Rescue has announced its Heartsaver® CPR AED schedule for 2012.

Local EMS instructors are offering free instruction for all community residents on the following dates in 2012: July 18, Aug. 15, Sept. 26, Oct. 17, Nov. 14 and Dec. 19.

All instruction will take place from 9 a.m. to noon in the training room at the HGH EMS Rescue station located adjacent to Humboldt General Hospital, 118 E. Haskell St. in Winnemucca.

Heartsaver® CPR AED is a classroom, video-based, instructor-led course that teaches adult CPR and AED use, as well as how to relieve choking on an adult.

This course teaches skills with American Heart Association's research-proven Practice-While-Watching (PWW) technique, which allows instructors to observe the students, provide feedback and guide the students' learning of skills.

Upon completion of this course, students receive an AHA Heartsaver CPR AED Course Completion Card that is valid for two years.

Pre-registration for all 2012 Heartsaver® CPR AED courses is required. For more information or to pre-register, please call (775) 623-5222, ext. 263. There is no charge to attend.
