Help others fight the cancer battle

Editor:

My name is Angela Street and I have the wonderful opportunity to be the publicity chair for the 2013 Relay for Life of Winnemucca. Each month I will update you on the upcoming events and important information so that you can be involved in helping others celebrate more birthdays.

March is Colon Cancer Awareness Month. In 2002, my mother-in-law was diagnosed with colon cancer and began her fight. She battled for six years and now lives cancer free. She fortunately is blessed to be a survivor. She was not alone. There are many affected by cancer every day. Relay for Life of Winnemucca is committed to helping all of those affected by funding cancer research across the nation.

We all know someone who has been diagnosed with cancer and as a community we can reach out and help those who fight this battle. We are always recruiting more teams and participants to be a part of this event, if you or someone you know are interested in starting a team you can register online at www.winnemuccarelay.org. For more information please feel free to contact Kayla Jonas, team development chair, at kaylajrelay@hotmail.com or Anda Latham, event chair, at winnemucca.relayer@gmail.com.

Our Relay for Life teams are really ramping up their fundraising efforts, and members of the community can get up-to-date information about these, as well as other information by following us on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/WinnemuccaRelayForLife. Watch for these different events and please help in the continuous fight for more birthdays. We appreciate your support.

Sincerely,

Angela Street
