PHOTO COURTESY OF JOAN AND ROGER AUSTIN

In this photograph, dated about 1910, Charles J. Lehman drives a team of horses and hauls freight into East Rochester, a mining camp located near the present-day Coeur Rochester Mine. Lehman was about 25 years old in photograph, which is actually a copy of a postcard. The cancellation mark, though faint, is visible at the top of the photo. The trademark of Lehman Freighting was a single gray lead horse on the right side of the team. Joan Austin of Winnemucca is the granddaughter of Charles Lehman. She is married to Roger Austin, who provided the information about the photograph.[[In-content Ad]]
