Harper 12th, Stremler 13th in saddle bronc at National High School Finals Rodeo

WINNEMUCCA - Humboldt County's Sam Harper sits in 12th place in the saddle bronc with 51 after the first go-around of the National High School Finals Rodeo in Rock Springs, Wyo., was completed on Wednesday morning.

Harper had the fourth best score in his performance on Monday morning but as the performances went on, he dropped to 12th overall. In addition, he is competing in the bull riding but did not record a score Sunday evening in the first performance of the first go-around.

Cole Stremler finished 13th in the saddle bronc and was third in his Tuesday morning performance. Cole Hatcher is also competing in the saddle bronc but did not record a score in his Monday morning performance.

Bobby Hoenck placed 20th overall in boys cutting with a score of 214. Hoenck was second in his Tuesday morning performance. In addition, Hoenck was seventh in the Monday morning performance of steer wrestling in a time of 11.85 seconds but was out of the top 25 in the overall standings. He is also participating in bareback but received a no score in the event on Wednesday morning.

Josh Harrer, who is competing as an independent, recorded a no time along with Hank Filippini in the team roping on Wednesday morning.
