CARSON CITY - The Nevada Rural Counties Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) Board of Directors has named Susan Haas as executive director and CEO. Haas began work with the RSVP in 2007 as program director after serving for eight years as deputy chief of staff for Lt. Governor Lorraine Hunt. In 2012 she was promoted to director of marketing and development.
"We are truly fortunate to have Susan Haas on board as executive director to continue the work that Janice Ayres championed for over 35 years," said RSVP Board President Jerry Thurman. "With her broad service and management background, she will continue to develop and sustain the programs that provide meaningful volunteer opportunities and life saving services to seniors to help keep them independent and in their own homes."
Haas then announced the appointment of Carol Anacker to the position of executive assistant to the director and grants manager. Anacker served in a wide variety of positions with the state of California for over 30 years, and worked as a grants coordinator in the Environmental Department for the Washoe Tribe in Douglas County before joining RSVP in 2010 as volunteer and stations supervisor. "Carol's professional background and experience, plus her exemplary work with RSVP's volunteers and field operations will be invaluable in enhancing all of our fundraising activities for senior programs," Haas said, "and I look forward to working with her in her new position."
RSVP offers a comprehensive support system that provides services such as home companions, respite care volunteers who give breaks and relief to families caring for a loved one at home, escorted transportation services, pro bono legal services, Lifeline Personal Emergency Response Systems, resistance training exercise programs, farmer's market coupons and assistance to federal, state, and local governments as well as other non-profit service organizations.
