On Oct. 28 at the Strip Park, prior to the Growl-O-Ween is a fundraiser will take place for Louie Gutierrez, the 2-year-old son of Lovelock residents Marcos and Coco Gutierrez who was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia in August. A walk-a-thon is being planned to start at 10 a.m. along with a raffle and T-shirt sale.
"We will start fundraising for Louie at 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. and then roll over to Relay at 1 p.m. for the dog costume contest and kick off the new Relay fund raising year," said Lovelock's Relay for Life co-chair and Walk-a-thon organizer Valaree Olivas.
Donations are being sought for the raffle that will be held during the fundraiser for Gutierrez.
"Louie will need treatments and follow ups in Reno for the next three years," Olivas said.

A spaghetti dinner benefit will be held at Sturgeons on Sept. 6 at 6 p.m. with proceeds going to the Gutierrez family.
