LOVELOCK - The University of Nevada Cooperative Extension is once again offering its "Grow Your Own!" classes to help you get on the path to sustainable, local, healthy living.
Beginning in September, UNCE offices in Carson City, Elko, Fallon, Lovelock, Reno, Tonopah, Winnemucca and Yerington will return with the ever-popular "Grow Your Own!" series, providing gardeners and health buffs in the Silver State with a "back-to-the-basics guide to great harvests in Nevada."
Classes will be held on Wednesday evenings from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
"Anyone can become a better gardener by attending these classes," said Horticulture Specialist Heidi Kratsch. "From the beginner to the advanced gardener, everyone can benefit from a Grow Your Own class."
Extension experts will touch on growing in Nevada soils, herbs, restoring fruit trees for better appearance and fruit production, preserving heirloom crops, gardening creatively and frugally, how and when to harvest fruits and veggies, safe composting, and using "green manure" to improve soil health.
Residents wishing to attend should contact their local Cooperative Extension office for information on attending the series.[[In-content Ad]]
