Gregorio Bermeosolo, Sr., 94, born in EreƱo, Spain and former longtime resident of Winnemucca, Nev., passed away quietly in his home while surrounded by family on March 21, 2014 after complications from a serious pulmonary infection, in Sparks, Nev.
Gregorio immigrated to this country in 1959, after fighting for Basque rights during the fascist regime of Francisco Franco during the Spanish Civil War and came to Nevada and quickly gained employment on the many ranches throughout northern Nevada. Upon settling in his long time home with his wife in Winnemucca, he found his next line of work with the Humboldt County School District as a custodian in schools throughout the district. After retiring in 1986, Gregorio enjoyed spending time with his family, cooking and tending to his garden. In his last two years he moved in with his son and daughter-in-law in Sparks.
Gregorio's kind and generous heart and enormous sense of humor will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Private graveside services will be held for the family on Friday, April 4 at the city of Winnemucca Cemetery, at Gregorio's request. Arrangements for cremation and internment have been made with the assistance of Walton's Funeral Home in Reno, Nev.
Gregorio was proceeded in death by his wife Ignacia Bermeosolo on March 23, 2011. He is survived by his two sons, Gregorio Jr. (Jenelle) of Sparks and Jose Luis (Miate) of Bilbao, Spain, and his grandchildren Gregorio III, Nerea and Itsaso.
