Great entertainment a given at Tri-County Fair

WINNEMUCCA -When it comes to the Tri-County Fair & Stampede, great entertainment is a given.

From Friday, Aug. 30, through Sunday, Sept. 1, the Winnemucca Events Complex will be packed with fun things to do. The bad news is you may not be able to fit it all in. The good news? It's all free.

"Mama's Wranglers" will perform for the fifth time at this year's Tri-County Fair, although local audiences will likely remember the group as the "Kid Fiddlers."

In 2012, the Kid Fiddlers celebrated 10 wonderful years and announced a bold new name change. Not only were the "kids" growing up, said mom Toni, but they had also outgrown the "Fiddle" label.

One thing's for sure, regardless of the group's name, local audiences won't want to miss the show that reviewers say will bring audiences to their feet for a hand-clapping, heart-pumping good time. Local audiences can catch Mama's Wranglers on the Main Stage Outside on Saturday, at 2 p.m. and 5:30 p.m., and on Sunday, September 1, at noon, 5:45 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. There is no charge for admission.

"The Magic of Brian Ledbetter & Company" will return this Labor Day weekend. This young, modern, hip performer will present thrilling magic with a universally appealing contemporary flair. Ledbetter's extensive background in theatre has benefitted his magic, honing it to a seldom reached level of perfection. His magic is performed with grace, wit, charm, class, poise, and presence-a combination which truly creates memorable performances. Local audiences will get to experience the fun firsthand during eight performances on the Main Stage Outside at 5 p.m. and 7:15 p.m. Friday; 1 p.m., 4:15 p.m. and 7:15 p.m. Saturday; and 11 a.m., 5 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Sunday. Each show will last 45 minutes and is free to the public.

Also on the bill for this Labor Day weekend is the debut of "The Amazing Concert Hypnotist Jeff Rose." Rose will combine his hypnotic talents and his quick wit to create one terrific and very funny show. The show will play at 8:30 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday-all on the Main Stage Outside at the Winnemucca Events Complex. There is no charge for admission.

"The Rowdy Refs Family Fun Show" also is scheduled to return to this year's Tri-County Fair. The show will draw 20 unsuspecting youngsters and adults into the fun during each show's segment, which will feature all the crazy stunts folks see on TV, but this time it will be family and friends who get to experience the fun first-hand.

There will be plenty of prizes, fun and even a take-home trophy or two as well. The Rowdy Refs will present three shows on the Main Stage Outside at 4 p.m. Friday, noon Saturday and 10 a.m. Sunday. Each show will last about 45 minutes and is free to the public.

The weekend also will feature Winnemucca's own "Spirit of Mexico Youth Dancers," who will don brightly colored costumes to wow crowds with their well-hone folk dancing talents. Performances will take place at 6:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 2:15 p.m. Sunday on the Main Stage Outside. All ages are welcome and there is no charge to attend.

Of course, the entertainment highlight of the entire weekend is the Clay Walker concert scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 31, in the Winnemucca Event Center. Krystal Keith, the daughter of country music superstar Toby Keith, will open the show. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., Krystal Keith will perform at 7:30 p.m. with Clay Walker following.

Tickets are now on sale at www.winnemucca.com. Ticket prices range from $30 to $75. Any remaining concert tickets will be sold at the door on the day of the event for cash only.
