ELKO - On March 7, 2014 the Nevada System of Higher Education Board of Regents unanimously approved the ad hoc Committee's report on Shared Services and Service Areas which included the assigning of Lincoln County, Esmeralda County, Mineral County and Pershing County to Great Basin College. GBC already provides postsecondary educational offerings and services to six rural Nevada counties (i.e., Elko, White Pine, Nye, Humboldt, Lander, and Eureka) through its main campus in Elko, centers in Ely, Pahrump, Winnemucca and Battle Mountain and 17 other instructional sites.
In the coming weeks, GBC President, Dr. Mark A. Curtis, will be meeting with the District Superintendents of each newly assumed county to make plans for the establishment of instructional sites and services. Great Basin College's service area will now encompass ten of Nevada's most rural counties covering some 86,514 square miles. With a proven reputation for providing high quality instruction and student services at a distance, the faculty and staff of GBC look forward to this most recent opportunity for growth.
Great Basin College is a member of the Nevada System of Higher Education and governed by the Board of Regents. The college is regionally accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities.[[In-content Ad]]
