Gray wins Doc Verner Memorial junior golf tournament

WINNEMUCCA - Ethan Gray won the Doc Verner Memorial junior golf tournament held last Wednesday at Winnemucca Municipal Golf Course with a 1-over par 73.

Chris Mendoza also shot a 1-over par 73 and finished second. Chris Dendary was third at 3-over par 75, and Jacob Jakich and Andy Mendoza shot 80 and 81, respectively, to round out the top five.

Josh Rose was sixth at (83), followed by Hunter Dimock (84), Josh Shaver (85), Blake Duncan (89), Damon Miller (99), Braxton Paulsen (101), Jarrin Conn (114), Cory Farstveet (133), Bradley Schmidt (137) and Jake Schmidt (139).

Alyssa Dendary carded a 82 to lead the way in the girls 15- to 17-year-old division, while Ning Landt was second with a 105.

In the boys 13- to 14-year-old age group that played nine holes, Trevor Stannard won with a 7-over par 43. Steve Bosch was second at 46 and Colin Holt third with a round of 60. Garrett Gray and Roland Clement were fourth and fifth, respectively, with scores of 62 and 72.

Dillon Patterson shot a 49 for nine holes to win the boys 11- to 12-year-old group. Ren Matson was second with a 57, Kobe Stoker was third at 59 and Zane Fifield, Dalton Irons and Zach Wolverton tied for fourth with scores of 64. Will Kracaw (69), Chayton Drobny (75) and Mateo Hernandez (83) completed the scores.

In the girls 11- to 12-year-old division, Tatyana Carlson won with a score of 46 and Kelsey Dalley was second at 79.

Hunter Mullins shot a 66 to win the boys 8- to 10-year-old division, with Gratian Dawson second at 71 and Cole Matson (74) third.

In the girls 8- to 10-year-old division, Lily Landt won with a 48, Savannah Dalley was second at 74 and Megan Li was third, shooting a 84. Rounding out the scores was Tea Novi (86), Rylee Clement (87) and Haddie Michael (87).

In all, 42 golfers played in the tournament.
