Two hundred thirty-five medals were awarded to the Winnemucca Grammar School students during an assembly on Friday, May 23rd. These medals are awarded for independent reading. Students read for 15 minutes to receive a step. They receive a medal for 100 steps, which is 25 hours of independent reading time, 200 steps which is 50 hours, and 300 steps, which is 75 hours. The ultimate goal is 400 steps, which is 100 hours of independent reading for each student of the school.
