Goldcorp - Marigold Mine donates new equipment to the school district

BATTLE MOUNTAIN - Representatives from Goldcorp - Marigold Mine gathered at Battle Mountain Junior High School to donate new equipment to the Lander County School District on Oct. 3.

Marigold Safety and Health Technician Doug Longchamps and Marigold Human Resources Generalist Chelsey Kent donated the items to nurse Paula Green and David Fuller.

Marigold donated a new Titmus V3 Vision Screening Instrument, valued at $2,533, and a Seca 700 Mechanical Column Scale, valued at $295, to the Lander County School District health office, and an icemaker, valued at $2,531 to be used at the junior high for sporting events.

Longchamps brought it to Marigold's donation committee's attention that the vision and weight equipment for the school district were outdated and falling apart.

Also, that several sporting events are held at the junior high and there was no ice machine to treat injuries. Marigold received the official requests for a monetary donation in order for the school district to purchase the equipment and the committee decided to just go ahead and purchase the equipment for the district.

The donation committee agreed that as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility efforts, that all of the items would be a wise investment for it to partake in and provide to one of its local communities.
