Those who are looking for St. Patrick's Day fun, need look no further than Kingston and Battle Mountain.

Got a craving for spaghetti? The Altar Society of the St. John Bosco Catholic Church can help with its Annual St. Patrick's Day Spaghetti Dinner and Cedar Chest Raffle to be held March 14 at 6 p.m. at the church hall.

That same day, the Town of Kingston Fire Company and its auxiliary will be serving up corned beef, cabbage, potatoes, cooked carrots and dessert at the Kingston Community Hall at 6 p.m.

In addition to spaghetti, the Altar Society will also be serving up salad and garlic bread along with punch, coffee and dessert.

"We're hoping to get a good crowd this year," said Altar Society President Laurie Pluemer.

The cost is $8 for adults and $5 for kids under 12. Wine and water can be purchased at the event and take-out is available.

Following the dinner will be bingo with cash and other prizes. There will also be raffles with the main prize being a cedar chest filled with household items. People do not have to be present to win.

Raffle tickets are $1 each or 6 for $5. They are available from any church member, Etcheverry's Foodtown or at the dinner.

They can also be purchased by calling Pluemer at (775) 635-0614.

Last year, the event raised $2,895 to go toward the Easter egg hunt, scholarships, church supplies, Thanksgiving baskets for those in need and more.

"Please come and join us for a night of fun for the whole family," Pluemer said. "The donations go for a good cause."

The Kingston Fire Department's event will feature a traditional St. Patrick's Day feast for $10 a plate and free for children 7 and under with a half price discount for active duty military, police, fire and EMS personnel. One water or soda comes with the meal and beer, wine and Irish whiskey will be sold separately.

The money raised will benefit the fire department and go for things such as training, equipment and future fundraisers, said firefighter Shannon Thiss.

There will be a gun raffle and other raffles as well. Tickets are $1 each and people do not have to be present to win. There will be a metal art live auction and bingo at $5 per card which will take place after dinner at around 7 p.m. until all of the prizes are gone.

"The food's great," Thiss said. "The raffles and bingo will be great. It should be a fun time for everybody."

Those who would like more information on the event can call (775) 964-2120. Kingston's volunteer fire department currently has nine members.
