Glen Dale Ward, 89 of Winnemucca, passed away Friday June 1, 2012 in Las Vegas of heart failure. He was born Aug. 10, 1922 in Vincent, Ky., to Everett Ward and Abbie Marcum Ward. He married Mildred Irene Compton Ward and has lived in Dayton, Ohio, Las Vegas and Winnemucca. He served honorably in the U.S. Army during World War II. Glen has been a service station owner, limousine driver, OTR truck owner and painting contractor. He was a member of the Baptist Church in Las Vegas and a member of the New Zion Masonic Lodge #651 in McKee, Ky.
Glen was preceded in death by his wife, Irene; sisters, Florence Ward Combs and Pauline Ward Whiteman and brothers, Isaac Ward and Otis Ward. He is survived by his brothers, William (Dorothy) Ward of Dayton, Ohio and Harold (Kathy) Ward of Reno, Nevada; sisters, Helen (Ernie) Sizemore of Moreland, Georgia and Shirley (Thomas) Stidham of West Richland, Wash.; and his loving companion, Buehla Bettis of Las Vegas.
Visitation was held from 4 to 6 p.m. on Thursday June 7, 2012 at Albertson Funeral Home in WInnemucca. Graveside services will take place at 11 a.m. Friday June 8, 2012 at the Winnemucca Cemetery. Those wishing to share memories with the family may do so at Glen's memorial site at albertsonfuneralhome.com.
