Gladys Gogert was born March 21, 1931, in Waupun, Wis., to Henry and Hermina (Ruesink) Vis, known as Minnie. Minnie died in a car accident when Gladys was three. Henry then married Wilheminia (Vandersant) who raised Gladys. She was one of six children. She was married to Jerome Gogert on Dec. 22, 1951 in Waupun, Wis. They moved to Nevada shortly after, where Jerry was a railroad agent until his death in 1979. They lived in Beowawe, Winnemucca and Lovelock. Gladys was a very active member in the Lutheran Church and the Winnemucca Artist Association, where she was an amazing artist. Gladys was also well known for her magnificent leather and silver work.
She is survived by her children David (Carla) Larry (Polly) and Robert Gogert and her brother Wally Vis; grandchildren Lucas Gogert, Darla (Jason) Barrick, Darrell (Amy) Gogert, Denise (Nathan) Draper and Alyssa Gogert; great grandchildren Jayden Gogert, Desiree Lucas, Danner Barrick, Michael, Danielle and Darrek Gogert, Troy, Bailey, Riley, Amiaya, Emma, Brady and Isabella Draper; one great-great granddaughter Jazmin Medina; numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Henry, Hermina and Wilheminia Vis, beloved husband Jerome Gogert, brothers, Bernie, Bill and Johnny Vis, and sister Christine (Vis) Tallman.
