LAS VEGAS - The third statewide online giving initiative, Nevada's Big Give, will be held today, Friday, April 25.
Nevada's Big Give is a day of online giving that benefits charities across the state. This initiative, launched by NevadaGIVES, is a unique, high-visibility promotion of personal giving designed to bring new donors and dollars to nonprofit organizations throughout the state.
Unlike any other philanthropic event, Nevada's Big Give is an opportunity to benefit all Nevada nonprofits by activating donations online. It's as simple as: Point. Click. Give. Every registered 501(c)(3) organization in Nevada is eligible to participate and receive donations on April 25 through the website www.NVBigGive.org.
Charities that participated last year will automatically be signed up. After more than $968,000 was raised by over 6,700 donors over the first two years of the event, the goal remains this year to introduce new donors to different charities and encourage on-going support of favorites in one 24-hour period for nonprofits across the state by encouraging Nevadans to give where they live.
"We are delighted with the results of our first two years of giving days, but our goal is to surpass those results," said Brian Knudsen, board vice president of NevadaGIVES. "Now that the campaign is more established in its third year, we anticipate more participation from both non-profits and donors."
Razoo.com, a seasoned community giving day fundraising tool, has created a website for Nevada's Big Give. Donations can be made to non-profits by selecting their online page on the Nevada's Big Give website, and they can learn more about the organization and its mission.
Support for Nevada's Big Give comes from lead sponsor the Mark A. Baker Team and contributing sponsors Wells Fargo and Bank of America. The initiative has been embraced by local celebrities and community leaders including Terry Fator, Brad Garrett, Cirque Du Soleil, Holly Madison and U.S. Senator Harry Reid who have filmed Public Service Announcements encouraging residents to do their part and give.
Established in 2003, NevadaGIVES is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization whose mission is to increase awareness of philanthropy so more people give back in a way that is meaningful to them. The goal is to build a vibrant, effective and growing philanthropic community that improves the quality of life for all Nevadans, as well as to support volunteerism by serving as an informational resource.
