Girl Scout summer camp registration open to all girls

RENO - Girls will see stars jump out of a dark sky, wander among the trees with new friends, solve a mystery only a super sleuth could piece together, toast the perfect marshmallow, search for forest fairies in the woods, go on a midnight treasure hunt, or boost their adrenaline on a high adventure this summer at Girl Scouts of the Sierra Nevada's (GSSN) Camp Wasiu II in the beautiful Sierra Nevada mountains.

Girl Scout camp registration is open to all girls - including non-Girl Scouts - in first through 12th grade to join in the summer fun.

"Camp Wasiu II encourages girls' independence, personal growth and leadership," GSSN Outdoor Specialist Paula Cady said. "They do so much growing up while they're away at camp - parents can hardly believe the transformation their daughters make in a week."

GSSN offers a true camp-experience to girls. They will sleep in canvas platform tents, canoe on the beautiful Packer Lake, hike the Sierra Nevada mountains, swim in Camp Wasiu II's private pool, take aim in the archery range, sing all the best camp songs, and perform skits around the campfire.

Experienced camp staff, including international staff from the UK, will ensure a safe and unforgettable summer.

Camp Wasiu II is located in Tahoe National Forest high in the Sierra Nevada near Sierra City, Calif. Camp amenities include a swimming pool, a new challenge course, hiking trails, a premier star-viewing area and equipment, a pristine lake within walking distance, flushing toilets and showers with hot water, and a large indoor dining hall/recreation area.
