We celebrated the life of Gilbert Lee "Pee Wee" Jaramillo, born on Oct. 26, 1950, to Adolf and Mary Jaramillo. Adolf and Mary's first baby Gloria was small at birth, so when their second baby was delivered just as small, the doctor said, "Mary, you have another Pee Wee."

Pee Wee attended the local schools, graduating from Battle Mountain High School in 1968.

In his early life he played in Little League, Babe Ruth and Connie Mack. His mom Mary remembers a state Babe Ruth baseball tournament in Yerington in 1965 that lasted until one in the morning where Pee Wee had 20 strike-outs and set a Nevada pitching record. He didn't excel just in baseball, but in basketball, football, and all other sports he played. Pee Wee was an All-Star

After high school, Pee Wee attended community college in Pasco, Wash., but them moved to UNR for a short time. He was drafted to Fort Lauderdale, Fla., to try out for the minor leagues. His experience there was sadly interrupted when he broke his leg.

In later life, Pee Wee held various positions in several mines in Battle Mountain and in Rock Springs, Wyo.

He married Kathy McDonald and had his first daughter Amber. He became a grandpa when Amber had her children Summer and Eric.

He was also married to Julie Brixen and had his second daughter Mary Lynn and his step-daughter Mercedes.

Pee Wee loved hunting, fishing, watching sports, singing loudly in the shower and playing pool. He especially loved all kids. Mary remembers when he would come home from school and sit out on the front porch playing his saxophone as neighborhood kids gathered to listen. Mary Lynn remembers inviting friends to go school clothes shopping where her dad would end up purchasing multiple matching sets of everything for all of them.

When reminiscing about Pee Wee, what stands out to most is how he would go to great lengths to make you laugh or to witness the look of shock fall across your face. Pee Wee was the ultimate joker.

Pee Wee passed away peacefully in his home on July 5. He is survived by daughters Amber Lewis (Sonny) and Mary Lynn Jaramillo-Braswell, (Robby) Braswell, his mom Mary, sisters Gloria and Michelle Butner, brother Benny Jaramillo, aunts Connie Vigil and Lucille Chavez, David and Darrel Clarkson, numerous cousins, and his friend Lyle Johnson.

Pee Wee was preceded in death by his father Adolfo Jaramillo and grandparents, two aunts and two uncles.
