BLM opening campground at Indian Creek Reservoir

CARSON CITY - The Bureau of Land Management campground adjacent to Indian Creek Reservoir in Alpine County, Calif., will open April 26 at 10 a.m.

Indian Creek Campground is one of the best campground values in the Sierra Nevada with hot showers, flush toilets, an RV sanitary dump station, paved roads and parking sites, and bear-proof storage lockers available at each site.

A BLM maintenance technician and camp hosts are on-site. Other facilities at Indian Creek Reservoir include a boat launching area, day use picnic area, three loop interpretive trail system and over eight miles of hiking trails.

The following fee schedule shows the fees for the 2013 camping season:

• $20 per night for RV/tent single site (13).

• $32 per night for RV/tent double site (6).

• $14 per night for tent area single site (6).        

 • $20 per night for tent area double site (4). 

• $50 per night for group area.                      

• $10 per vehicle for sanitary dump station use. 

 The main camp area has 19 sites that accommodate RV and tent campers on a non-reservation basis. Six of these 19 sites are considered "double" occupancy sites since they have two parking spots, two tent pads and two picnic tables. This area has flush toilets, hot showers and drinking water.

The walk-in tent area, located south of the main camp area, has ten sites that can accommodate up to 15 tents (15 pads) on a non-reservation basis. Four of the 10 tent sites are considered "double" occupancy sites since they have two tent pads and two picnic tables. Sanitary facilities in this area include vault toilets and potable water.

With advanced reservations, a group of up to 40 people may camp in the group campsite that accommodates tents only. To make a reservation at the group campsite, or for more information, please contact the BLM Carson City District office at (775) 885-6000.
