In 1974, he retired from the base due to illness. He bought a dairy in Fallon which he owned and operated for eleven years. After selling the dairy, he and his late wife, Loretta, bought a mountain home and traveled. They visited family and friends until Loretta's death in 2006.

Due to illness, Jerry spent about a year in Strapsmore, Calif., with his daughter, Darla McCowen. He then returned to Rye Patch.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Gail, his children, Darla McCowen and Roy Bock, a brother and sister, Royal Bock and Bubbles Brown, together with cousins, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Jerry was predeceased by his wife, Loretta, and daughter, Betty Furgeson.

FOR JERRY, WITH LOVE

When I came to the end of the road

And the sun has set for me,

I want no rites and gloom-filled rooms

Why cry for a soul set free?

Miss me a little, but not too long,

And not with your head bowed low.

Remember the love we shared

Miss me but let me go.

For this is a journey that we all must face,

And each must go alone.

It's all a part of the Master's Plan

Just a step on the road home.

When you grow lonely and sick at heart,

Go to the friends you love,

And bury your sorrow by doing good deeds.

Just miss me, never forget me,

And let me go.
