Born to Joseph and Irene Giacometto on June 4, 1925, he had two brothers, Joe and Ed. He passed away on Oct. 20, 2011, at Renown Hospital in Reno at the age of 86. He is survived by his wife of 54 years Janice, his son Robert and Daughter in law Gay of Havensville, Kan., and his daughter Suzanne Lesley of Winnemucca. He was born in Winnemucca and raised in McDermitt and California. His father and Uncle Pete had the Giacometto Ranch in McDermitt. He and his brother Ed bought the Cottonwood Ranch in Yerington, along with ranching he was a brand Inspector for several years until they sold the ranch and he became a District Brand Inspector for the State of Nevada for 34 years. He was in the U.S. Army during world war 2 and served time in Japan and the United States, honorably discharged as a corporal.
Services will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2011, at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Winnemucca at 10:00 a.m. with burial to follow in the Winnemucca Cemetery. Lovelock Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
