Gary Evans, 61, longtime resident of Winnemucca passed away at home May 9, 2013. Gary was born in Casper, Wyo., June 20, 1952, to Loyd and Lois Evans. Gary was one of three children.
Gary was preceded in death by the love of his life, Maria, in 2011, his oldest sister, Lois Joann, his father Loyd, his mother Lois. Gary is survived by his sister Linda Kruth (Kenneth), daughter Kristina Casalez (Pat), and his son Shawn. Gary is also survived by six grandchildren, Hesston and Trey Evans, Seth, Brayden Trevin and Jordan Casalez. Gary also has numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He grew up in Wyoming and after high school joined the U.S. Navy for six years and served his country in Vietnam, being honorably discharged in 1976.
He married Maria in 1976 and started a family while working on the oil rigs. He moved his family to Nevada in 1989 and worked for the local mining industry until his retirement.
Gary enjoyed taking trips up and down the West Coast; he was a gun enthusiast and enjoyed taking his grandkids for a ride in his Polaris Ranger. Gary made friends wherever he went and always had a story to tell, and an opinion to give.
Gary was a wonderful son, husband, father and friend. His wife and grandchildren were the loves of his life. He will truly be missed but never forgotten.
There are memorial services planned for a later date.
