Gary Ellifritz, 77, died in a Reno hospital Nov. 12, 2011. He was surrounded by family and after a short illness passed away peacefully. Gary came from Colorado, to Winnemucca in the early 1950's. After discharged from the army, he returned to Winnemucca, where he met and married local girl, Mona Erskine in 1955. Gary worked several jobs before starting his own plumbing and heating business in the 1970's and expanded to Ellifritz Construction. Gary liked to mechanic, building and rebuilding pickups, dune buggies, 2 road graders and 2 airplanes. He loved airplanes and flying. He was preceded in death by parents and 3 siblings, Don Ellifritz of Winnemucca, Mike Ellifritz and Belva Hayes. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mona Ellifritz, daughter Leah Morrow of Oregon, sons Stuart and Rory Ellifritz of Reno, daughters Shannon Ellifritz of Colorado and Gloria Ellifritz of Winnemucca.
