WINNEMUCCA - Friends of Nevada Wilderness is dedicated to preserving all qualified Nevada public lands as wilderness, protecting all present and potential wilderness from ongoing threats, education the public about the values of - and need for - wilderness and improving the management and restoration of wild lands. This non-profit organization has done stewardship projects throughout the state and one of their greatest focus areas for 2012 is the Santa Rosa/Paradise Peak wilderness area.
Friends of Nevada Wilderness is looking forward to this spring and summer in the Santa Rosa/Paradise Peak wilderness area. The organization has projects scheduled to repair wilderness areas damaged by wild fires, maintain and repair trails and trailheads to make them clear for recreational purposes, repair work at a popular campsite and much more. They are excited to join with one of their fellow organizations, Nevada Outdoor School, in most of their project efforts.
There is a great deal to accomplish these upcoming months in the Santa Rosa Wilderness in an effort to preserve the land for future generations to enjoy. If you are an individual who likes to recreate outdoors in beautiful northern Nevada, Friends of Nevada Wilderness would like to encourage you to consider volunteering. By volunteering, you will be contributing to keeping Nevada's wilderness areas wild and beautiful.
Nevada is an incredible state to live in, explore and recreate. Friends of Nevada Wilderness is eager to make a difference in the Santa Rosa/Paradise Peak wilderness with community members volunteering from Winnemucca, Battle Mountain, Lovelock and the surrounding areas. Their stewardship projects happen all over the great state of Nevada but because of their focus on the Santa Rosa Wilderness this year, they need your help! Volunteer opportunities are open to all, with very little experience needed for most of the projects. If you have a group to volunteer, a family or just yourself individually, they would be happy and eager to hear from you!
