Free Pesticide Applicator Training in January

Workshop attendees can earn continuing education credits

The University of Nevada Cooperative Extension is offering a Continuing Education Workshop and Pesticide Applicator Training on Wed., Jan. 30 from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. The training will be held live in Reno and available via videoconference in 11 other locations throughout Nevada.

The target audience for this workshop is for certified pesticide applicators or people who wish to become certified applicators, according to Melody Hefner, UNCE water quality and pesticide safety program assistant. Participants can earn up to 7.5 continuing education credits. Licensed pest control operators are not eligible for credit.

The free workshop helps attendees pass the applicator certification exam, which costs $25 and will be offered Feb. 4 in Sparks and Feb. 5 in Winnemucca. Study manuals for the exam are also available from UNCE for $15 or online at www.nevadapesticideeducation.com. Exams are also given weekly at Nevada Department of Agriculture offices in Sparks and Las Vegas, by appointment only.

Limited seating is available for the workshop. To pre-register by the Jan. 24 deadline contact Hefner at 775-336-0247 or hefnerm@unce.unr.edu.
