WINNEMUCCA - The Academic Success Center at Great Basin College is sponsoring a free math refresher course Aug. 6-16 at all GBC campuses. The class will meet Monday through Thursday evenings, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Students need not register for the class. Everyone is welcome.
The course will be held at the Battle Mountain Center, room 1; Winnemucca Center, room 115. Students should come with paper and pencil.
The refresher course prepares students for the Accuplacer Math Placement Test. The placement test helps to determine which math course will be most appropriate for the student. Very often, the refresher course serves as a reminder of many of the simplest mathematical concepts, and can help a student to place into a higher math course. The more advanced math course a student can enroll in, the quicker math requirements will be fulfilled for graduation.
