The Winnemucca Community Garden invites the public to a day of workshops designed to get you and your garden ready for the coming season.
From 11 - 11:45 a.m. will be a class on pruning. Learn how to prune your fruit trees, a variety of shrubs, ornamentals, and pine trees. Get hands-on practice and ask questions related to your specific pruning needs. Bring your gloves and pruners if you have them for some hands-on experience with plants at the garden.
From noon-1 p.m., there will be a class on native plants. Learn more about gardening with plants that are native to northern Nevada. Attendees will learn about the benefits of gardening with native flowers, shrubs, trees and grasses and can decide what is best for their personal growing spaces. Learn where to get your native plants, cuttings or seeds and discuss propagation techniques.
Both workshops will be held at the Community Garden, 151 McArthur Ave., across from Sonoma Heights Elementary School. Attendees can choose to stay for one or both classes.
