Franklin Building Supply closed last month, but staff there were certainly generous before making their exit.
Humboldt Volunteer Hospice Executive Director Sherry Smith said, "The sad note is that Franklin Building Supply closed here in Winnemucca."
She continued, "But on the happy side, Glen Parnell, Franklin's vice president and regional manager, contacted us and has donated several filing cabinets, desks and chairs to the Frugal Flamingo, and we would like to say thank you."
This isn't the first time the nonprofit has been blessed by Franklin Building Supply. Earlier this year, hospice began participating in Franklin's "Make It Count" program, which is specifically designed for nonprofit organizations looking for fundraising opportunities.
In a nutshell, the program allowed hospice to make money each time residents shopped at Franklin and presented a membership card. Hospice would then receive a quarterly rebate check.
"This company has been so good to us," said Smith. "And we are so sad to see them go."
"However," she continued, "that is so like them to be so generous and kind before actually leaving."
