Franklin Building Supply, Hospice team up for 'Make it Count' program

The Humboldt Volunteer Hospice and Franklin Building Supply have found a perfect match.

Franklin's "Make It Count" program is designed specifically for non-profit organizations looking for fundraising opportunities, and the Humboldt Volunteer Hospice is a non-profit organization looking for funding.

"So we certainly believe this will be profitable for both our organizations," said HVH Executive Director Sherry Smith of the corporate give-back program.

Here's how it works. Franklin Building Supply has supplied HVH with member cards for distribution to local residents.

Each time residents shop at Franklin Building Supply and present the membership card, the Humboldt Volunteer Hospice earns money.

In all, 1 percent of all pre-tax retail sales and .5 percent of retail installed sales will be donated to HVH in the form of a quarterly rebate check.

"This is a great program, and a great opportunity for us to raise money in order to continue our mission in this community," said Smith.

The Humboldt Volunteer Hospice provides care, honor and support for individuals in the Humboldt County community who are suffering from a chronic, debilitating or terminal illness.

All hospice care is provided at no cost to patients. Families do not need a doctor's referral in order to access hospice services.

Please stop by the Frugal Flamingo Thrift Store, located at 720 E. Fourth Street, to pick up a "Make It Count" membership card. Hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
