The Dallas Cowboys lost one of their greatest fans on Dec. 25, 2014, when Frank Cruz died after losing his battle with cancer. He loved his mother's homemade cooking, Budweiser beer, hunting, kicking butt in pool, fishing, barbecue ribs, chocolate cake, Dr. Pepper, football, his wife of 34 years, Tammy, and daughters, Jillian Cruz Baker and Jordyn Cruz - not necessarily in that order. John Wayne, Emmett Smith, Clint Eastwood, Marshall Matt Dillon and his father were his heroes. He was the hero to his granddaughters, Adisson and Peyton Baker.
Frank graduated from Battle Mountain High School in 1972. Immediately upon graduation he began working in the mining industry. He truly enjoyed working as a heavy equipment operator over the years and made many lifelong friends. He especially took pride in the work he did as a "Golden Boy" at Echo Bay Minerals. He thought it was pretty cool to end his career where it began so many years ago at the Phoenix Mine in Battle Mountain.
Frank is survived by his wife, Tammy, daughters Jillian Cruz Baker and Jordyn Cruz, granddaughters Adisson Baker and Peyton Baker, brother Jim Cruz, sister Sylvia Warner and husband Jim Bob and numerous nephews and nieces.
Rosary was held at 7 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 2, 2015, and services followed on Saturday, Jan. 3, 2015, at 10 a.m. at the Saint John Bosco Catholic Church in Battle Mountain, Nev. Final Service took place on Monday, Jan. 5, 2015, at the Flahiff Funeral Chapel in Caldwell, Idaho, with burial following directly at the Middleton Idaho Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Frank Cruz Memorial Cancer Travel Fund at any Wells Fargo Bank.[[In-content Ad]]
