RENO - The Reno-Tahoe Open Foundation awarded $114,951 to various non-profit organizations Oct. 19 at an awards ceremony held at Reno High School.

One of the organizations benefiting from the RTOF was Pershing County Relay for Life. The local group received $135 for selling RTO tickets earlier this year. All members of the Up Cripple Creek Without a Paddle team represented Pershing County Relay for Life at the awards ceremony.

Haley Duffrin, Chip in for Charities coordinator, presented the check to Pershing County Relay for Life Chairperson and Up Cripple Creek Without a Paddle team co-captain Val Olivas, along with team member Marisalena Perez and team co-captain Ramon Olivas.

The team will put the money toward the 2012 Relay for Life fundraising goal of $27,000, Val Olivas said.

According to its Web site, renotahoeopen.com, the RTOF is a non-profit organization established in 1999 for the purpose of generating funds to operate the RTO. After the RTOF reaches its operational goals, it uses excess funds to support other qualified northern Nevada charitable organizations.
