Former Humboldt County Rodeo Club members compete at CNFR Richards finishes 12th in goat tying, Montero 12th in bulls

Trenten Montero, currently at New Mexico State, competed in two events, finishing 12th in bull riding and 18th in bareback. Montero did not record a score in the first go-around of bull riding but came back to finish second in the second go-around with a score of 77 points. Only six riders out of 37 recorded a score in the second go-around.

Montero did not stay on for the full eight seconds in the third go-around but was still able to reach the score go based on his ride in the second go-around.

In the short go, Montero did not record a score, as Sam Houston State's Sam Holloway was the only rider to stay on for the full eight seconds.

In the bareback riding, Montero tied for 10th in the first go-around with 72 points and tied for 25th in the second go-around with 60.5 points. He scored 57 points in the third go-around but failed to make the short go.

Montero's teammate at New Mexico State, Dixie Richards, finished 12th overall in the goat tying.

Richards was one of three women to post a time of 6.8 seconds in the first go-around, which placed her in a tie for sixth. Richards posted a time of 7.7 in the second go-around to finish 26th. She improved 10 spots in the third go-around to place 16th with a time of 7.5, which advanced her to the short go. However, she recorded a no-time in the short go-around, placing her 12th overall.

Christian Stremler, who attends Mesa Community College, was 23rd in the saddle bronc riding.

Stremler scored 60.5 points in the first go-around to place 23rd and was 20th in the second go-around with 57.5 points. He did not record a score in the third go-around and missed out on advancing to the short go.

Bryce Palmer from Walla Walla Community College won the men's all-around title with 365 points, while Shay Carroll from Northeastern Junior College was second at 280.

Hayden Segelke out of Northeastern Junior College won the women's all-around title with 195 points. Panhandle State's Kaylee Moyer was second at 160 and Churchill County High School graduate Bailey Corkill, now with UNLV, was third with 120 points.

Walla Walla won the men's team title with 750 points and Sam Houston State was second at 670. Texas Tech took home the women's team crown with 423.3 points and Central Wyoming College was second with 335 points.
