Five people recognized by school board

BATTLE MOUNTAIN - On Nov. 14, the Lander County School Board recognized five deserving people in the community.

Doug Longchamps recognized Amy Nelson for her work and dedication to the kids at Eleanor Lemaire Elementary School. The kids love her and it shows when they run up to her and give big hugs.

Anna Penola recognized Alison Itza for all the time she devotes to programs and organizations. She has been a dance instructor since the Basque Club began. She was Little League president for several years. She also taught catechism for many years. She never says "no" and is an awesome person to work with.

John Davis recognized Gordon Hunt as he has stepped up as head of maintenance for the Lander County School District and has brought a new vision to the district. He is the new guy and has gone above and beyond in his everyday job.

Mark Lake recognized Tammy Smith for driving the soccer teams to their games and being a professional.

Todd Thompson recognized Clay Mills. Mills has been the unsung hero for the high school football teams. He has been the statistician for many years and has been dedicated and very generous with his time.
