ELKO - On Sept. 6, fire restrictions were lifted on lands administered by Jarbidge, Mountain City, and Ruby Mountains Ranger Districts of the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest; all BLM public lands in northeastern Nevada; Nevada Division of Forestry Protection Districts in northeastern Nevada; U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service and Bureau of Indian Affairs administered lands.
The termination of restrictions was made due to recent high amounts of precipitation and lower temperatures.
"The Interagency team greatly appreciates the public's cooperation in helping to minimize the number of human-caused wildfires this summer," said Mike Ford, Northeast Nevada Interagency Fire Management officer.
"Even though we have a significant amount of moisture and we are lifting restrictions, we're asking the public to be very careful when using fire. There is still a potential for moisture levels to drop and northeastern Nevada is still experiencing a drought," Ford said.
