WINNEMUCCA - The final state championships of the high school year take place this week for Lowry and McDermitt high schools.
The Lowry High School boys golf team is in Reno for the NIAA Division I-A State Golf Championships.
The opening round is scheduled for today at Sierra Sage Golf Course. Results were not available at press time, but first-day results are posted at www.niaa.com. The final 18 holes will be played on Wednesday at Sierra Sage as well, with the first tee times at 7:30 a.m.
The Buckaroos are looking for their state-record 12th title and are competing against Elko, Spring Creek, Boulder City, Faith Lutheran and Pahrump Valley.
The Lowry and McDermitt track and field teams will be in Las Vegas on Friday and Saturday for the NIAA State Track and Field Championships at Silverado High School. Action gets underway at 3 p.m. on Friday and 8 a.m. on Saturday. For a complete list of events and times, visit www.niaa.com.
The Lowry High School swim team had three individuals and five relay teams qualify for the Division I-A State Diving and Swimming Championships to be held Saturday in Carson City. The diving portion of the championships begin at 9 a.m. at the Carson Valley Swim Center in Minden, while the swimming action gets underway at 1 p.m. at the Carson Aquatic Facility
