WINNEMUCCA - Today, I will be talking about the FFA Warmth Drive put on at Lowry High School. After such a successful 1st year, FFA decided to put on a 2nd annual Warmth Drive. The FFA club started putting on the Warmth Drive to ensure that the less fortunate people of Winnemucca are ready and dressed for the cold winter season.
FFA, which stands for Future Farmers of America, has been supporting the Warmth Drive since last year, and they hope to make the Warmth Drive an annual event at Lowry High School. FFA started putting on the annual Warmth Drive to let the community of Winnemucca know that FFA will support them any way they can, in this instance with warm clothes.
The Warmth Drive is asking for gently used or new items such as, hats, gloves, scarves, earmuffs, mittens, coats, sweaters, sweatshirts, ponchos, socks, blankets and other snow gear. If you are willing to donate any type of these winter items, you can place them in any of the donation boxes around Lowry, such as in the library, office, attendance office and most classrooms. The deadline for all the donations to be in is by Tuesday, Jan. 31.
Also, the FFA club is providing a grand prize to the advisory class that brings the most warm clothes and snow gear to their class by Jan. 31 for the Warmth Drive. So, either way, it's a win-win situation for both the people of Winnemucca and the students of Lowry High. Help prepare the people of Winnemucca for a cold winter and you may win a grand prize, so come on and support the community of Winnemucca with the FFA-supported Warmth Drive.
