A "soft" opening is scheduled for Thursday, the store's management said.
From the outside, the store appears to be packed with hundreds of household items and residents have been coming by to check the place out. The new business could save shoppers the time and cost of driving to stores in Fallon or Winnemucca.
Truckloads of merchandise have been unloaded and stocked on shelves by more than 16 workers. The store's management staff will select permanent full and part-time "associates" from the temporary crew, said Brandy Taylor, a Family Dollar district manager and Twin Falls, Idaho, resident.
"It depends on the store volume and how well the store does as far as how many associates we will keep in the store," Taylor said last week. "We'll evaluate and assess where we're at."
Taylor said the store will be open seven days a week from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. There will be an opening ceremony and prizes at Saturday's grand opening.
"Typically, we'll do a little ribbon cutting and we'll have promotional gifts and a drawing to win different things," Taylor said.
"It's like a mini-Walmart," said Sharon Murphy, a temporary worker hoping to be hired on as a permanent staff member. She said the store has a big variety, with everything from cell phones to the nail products she's been unpacking for display.
