RENO - Steven Angus is having one of those years. First the Fallon resident drew a deer tag in Nevada's annual big game draw. Then recently he received a phone call informing him that he had won a $1,000 gift card for getting his application in early.
"I was pretty excited when I got the call. A thousand bucks goes a long way," said Angus.
He reported that because he was out of state on work, his family members were contacted first and had to tell him to answer his phone when System's Consultants, contractor for the big game draw process, called him. "I thought it was funny that my family knew I had won before I did."
System's Consultants sponsors the early application incentive for the big game tag draw. The winner gets to pick what store the $1,000 certificate is to: Cabela's, Scheels or Bass Pro. Angus selected a gift card to Cabela's. He reports that he had already planned on purchasing a 9 mm pistol. "I guess that's free now," he joked. Angus also plans on buying gear for his upcoming deer hunt.
With his recent string of good luck, some of his family members believe Angus should think about other options. "My sister keeps joking that I should play the lottery," said Angus.
