Erma Jean Griffin Danner

1928 - 2014

Erma Jean Griffin Danner, 86, departed this world Dec. 1, 2014, in Reno, Nev.

Erma Jean was born in Dewey County near Taloga, Okla., to Alfred and Pearl Griffin, on April 5, 1928. She was the fourth child in a family of 13 siblings. Growing up in such a large family helped her to become the wonderful mother, and the great teacher that she was. She was patient beyond belief and taught us all that we were to work hard, and that life was to be enjoyed and happiness was the key to living well.

Her family moved to Arock, Ore., when she was very small, and in her late teens on Sept. 22, 1946, she married Donald C. Danner with a small ceremony at Donald's parent's home in Arock, Ore., officiated by Mr. Bailey of "The Circuit Rider of the Rocky Mountain Circuit."

Erma Jean lived throughout Nevada, in Winnemucca, Scheelite, Fallon, Imlay and last Reno where she lived with her oldest and youngest daughters. She continued to pursue her own education by finishing high school and getting her G.E.D. and finishing technical school to become a nursing aid, and administrator.

She is survived by her four children: Doyle B. Danner and his wife Ruth Tipton Danner, Verlene J. Danner Bonham and husband William Bonham, Edna J. Danner LaMarca and husband John LaMarca, and Gayle D. Danner, as well as numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Donald Danner.

Celebration of Erma Jean's life will take place at 1 p.m. on Dec. 13, 2014, at Jordan Valley Oregon Methodist Church.
