WINNEMUCCA - The Winnemucca Community Garden's kicks off the season with "An Afternoon of Live Music" in the Garden on Saturday, May 18.
The fun begins at 2 p.m., and features many local musicians, including "Banjo Jim" Kinney, Brian Nelson with a Willie Nelson tribute, the Swinging Seniors, the 2nd Winders, the Winnemucca Brass Quintet, a performance by the Lowry High School arts club and more artists as the roster becomes final.
This is an all-ages, family-friendly event located at the Garden, 151 McArthur Ave. - across from Sonoma Elementary
In addition to the live music, Nevada Outdoor School will have a children's area with games, fun activities, face painting, and perhaps a special guest. (Smoky Bear has been rumored to be in the area.)
Baked goods, snacks, and refreshments will be for sale, and there will be garden tours and plot applications for those interested in gardening.
Bring your lawn chairs and/or blankets to listen to music and enjoy the garden's scenery.
Raffles for a couple of large donation items will be at 5 p.m. Admission is $5 or more suggested donation and kids are free.
This event is free of alcohol and smoking. The Community Garden is non-smoking venue.
