1917-2015
Emelie Blanche Dillon, age 98, passed away on Feb. 27, 2015, surrounded by family members. She was born on Feb. 14, 1917, to Pedro and Dominica Laca in Golconda, Nev.
She had four sisters, Marie, Evelyn, Annie and Margie and one brother, Pete.
Emelie attended eight years of grammar school and three years of high school in Golconda and graduated from Humboldt County High School in Winnemucca, Nev., in 1934.
She married Edward (Rex) Dillon on March 8, 1940, at St. Paul's Catholic Church Rectory. Rex was an avid golfer. At age 40, Emelie also took up the sport. She played golf for 50 years and was instrumental in organizing the Winnemucca Ladies' Golf Club in 1957. She served as club president for three terms. She devoted 39 years assisting with the Winnemucca Junior Golf Program. A junior golf tournament is currently held annually in her name.
Emelie was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church Altar Society. Emelie was well known for her crocheted afghans. She donated an afghan to the St. Patrick's Fair for 20 years. She also volunteered at the Winnemucca Senior Center making items for their craft shop.
She was deeply loved by her family and friends, and will be missed by everyone who knew her.
Emelie is survived by her children, Linda (Tony) Carter, of Elko, Nev.; Wanda (Stuart) Riley of Granbury, Texas; and W. E Dillon, of Portland, Ore.; her sister, Marguerite Fagg, of Winnemucca; seven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rex; her parents, Pedro and Dominica Laca; sisters Marie Wardell, Evelyn Rutherford, Annie Lathos; brother, Pete Laca, Jr. and great grandson, Michael Goodwin.

In honor of Emelie's request, no services will be held.
