On Sept. 26, 2011, Edith Lila Martin went to join her Father in Heaven.
Born on Nov. 23, 1927, Lila left her mark on this world in the form of loved ones and their memories of her as a loving wife, mother, sister, and grandmother and as an aunt who was always eager to embrace everyone into her fold. Her quick wit and humor charmed all of us and drew people to her like a magnet, never knowing but always wondering what "Little Toughie" might do next.
Lila left behind her husband of 67 years, Robert Martin; her daughter, Sue Nouque; her son, Michael Martin; her grandchildren, William Orr, Samantha Clements, Brianna Martin, Sara Martin, and Amelia Martin; and her great grandchildren, Bethany Loftis, Aaron Kaden, Cassandra Kaden, Robert Clements and Grayson Orr. She is also survived by two sisters, Sylvia Calloway and Ophelia Theobald; her brother, Roy Bale and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial will be held in Lila's honor on Thursday, Oct. 6, at 1:00 in the afternoon at Foothills Church of Christ at 14770 Chamy Drive in Reno, Nevada. Following the memorial there will be a pot-luck reception. We are asking that anyone who wishes to share a memory of Lila, please bring it in written form to the memorial so that others may read it. Flowers may be sent to the church and/or donations may be made to St. Mary's Hospice in Lila's memory.
