BATTLE MOUNTAIN - The yearly community Easter egg hunt was held on Saturday, March 30, at Lion's Park beginning at 10 a.m. sharp.
The park was crawling with kids and their parents just waiting for Alicia Price, organizer of the event, to give the word and they began to scramble gathering plastic eggs with candy or prize numbers inside. There are always plenty of prizes to go around. They can be found in the grass or collected with a numbered prize ticket.
The event is for ages 0-12. Lion's Park was looking very festive with the new toys for the kids to play on and colorful eggs scattered everywhere.
There were four areas taped off for four different age groups. Within a couple minutes the eggs were gathered and clusters of kids sat around on the lawn opening their eggs.
The lines formed in front of the prizes and everyone waited patiently to collect toys or candy. The Easter Bunny surprised everyone this year with short, shiny, smooth fur, and he still had those beautiful ears.
Previously, over the years he has been sporting long angora type fur. When he arrived at the park he was surrounded by kids and their parents taking their pictures. He is a real patient rabbit, always paying attention to all his fans in Battle Mountain.
The local mines and businesses that sponsored the egg hunt were Barrick, Newmont, Haney's Furniture, Dick's Autobody, SMD, Marigold, Viking Enterprises, Viper Glass, All Dahld Up Salon, Super 8, Pinion Exploration, Thompson Family Dental, Atlas Towing Service, XI Alpha Phi, Royal Hardware, Nevada Hotel, Battle Mountain Burners, Dakota Diesel, Frontier Coalition, Hanica Insurance and Wells Fargo.
The event is always organized by Alicia Price with the assistance of Leann Miller and several other volunteers. There have been years when the volunteers had to hide eggs in the snow. This year everyone got a break with sunny spring weather.[[In-content Ad]]
