Dufurrena named Ruby Mountain Player of Year Five other Lady Bucks honored

WINNEMUCCA - Lowry High School's Julia Dufurrena was named the Ruby Mountain Player of the Year by the league's coaches at the end of the regular season.

Dufurrena, a senior, averaged 16.9 points and 10.5 rebounds a game to lead the Lady Buckaroos. Lowry finished the year at 17-6 but for a second consecutive season missed out on the playoffs.

The first-team, all-league squad was dotted with Elko and Spring Creek players. The Indians' Emma Sprout and Sierra Dumas were selected, along with the Spartans' Zuleika Grinsell, Arrayana Edwards and Kyla Siri.

Elko's Camille Larsen and Spring Creek's Holly Miller were chosen as the co-Coaches of the Year, as the Spartans captured their fourth state championship in sixth years, with a win over Elko in the 2012 state tournament.

The Lady Bucks' Betsy Guerrero and Madi Gonzalez were named to the second team. White Pine's Bailey Moore and Mattu Kingston, Elko's Raelynn Forcella and Spring Creek's Madi Estes were also second-team choices.

Lowry's Angie Herrera, Taylor Johnson and Carli Evatz earned honorable mention status along with Battle Mountain's Abbie Mikelson, Elko's Anna Dubois, West Wendover's Candy Roland, Spring Creek's Paige Allen and White Pine's Haidn Windous.
