WINNEMUCCA - A Humboldt County school bus was stopped at Rose Creek Road and Airport Road at 4 p.m. Dec. 10 when it was rear-ended by a truck.
No students were injured in the accident, according to Curriculum Director Kelly Novi. The school bus only received a minor dent in its bumper and no structural damage occurred.
Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Tim Raabe happened to be stopped at the intersection when the accident occurred and was able to provide immediate assistance.
NHP troopers, Humboldt County Sheriff's deputies and also Humboldt General Hospital EMTs responded as a precaution, according to Novi. EMTs cleared each student on the bus.
Novi said parents were notified and were given the option to come pick up their student or have them sent home on another bus.
Joshua Howard, the driver of the pick-up truck that rear-ended the bus, was arrested on suspicion of DUI, abuse/neglect/endangerment of child, resisting public officer, possession of gun under the influence of alcohol/drugs, fail to decrease speed or use due care, drinking alcohol while driving/physical control of motor vehicle.
He did not suffer from any injuries and was booked into the Humboldt County Detention Center on $42,170 bail.[[In-content Ad]]
