Doris passed away peacefully at her home in Crescent Valley, Nev., on March 21, 2013. Born in Kailspell, Mont., to Joe and Mary Young, she was the oldest of five children. When she was a small child they traveled by covered wagon to Ontario, Ore. They moved to Washington when she was a young girl. Doris met and married Harold Casey. They had two children, Larry and Diane. They later divorced. Doris moved to California. She met Thomas O. Smith. They were married in Las Vegas, Nev., on May 26, 1956. They had two children, Tina and Patricia. They moved to Crescent Valley in 1974. It has been their home ever since.
Doris raised and showed Arabian horses. She was very proud of her buckles she won. She was a member of several horse clubs. She could tell you anything you wanted to know about them.
She was preceded in death by her husband Tom, son Larry, brothers Ivan and Joey, parents Joe and Mary. She leaves behind: daughter Diane (Chuck) Henry, daughter, Tina (Jeannie) Wintle, daughter Patricia (Howard) Wright, all of Crescent Valley. Sister Deena (Bob) Bean, of Arizona. Brother James (Alice) Young, of Washington. Grandchildren; Mike (Nickie) Craig, Tony Craig, Leslie (Justin) Wintle, of Vale, Ore., Jessica (Mike) Hale, of Vale, Ore., Kristi (Jim) Davids, of Crescent Valley, Nev., Mathew Wright, of Germany. Also, several great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
There will be no services. She will be cremated and the family will have a private memorial later in the spring. We know that Mom is in Dad's arms and they are square dancing across the clouds above us. We love you and miss you. Until we meet again, save a dance for us.
