Donald Arnold

Donald Arnold, 76, of Winnemucca, passed away Saturday, June 23, 2012. He was born on Oct. 20, 1935, in Shamokin, Pa., to Donald K Arnold and Dorothy Renn. He was raised by his grandparents in Buffalo, N.Y., where he met his future wife to be, Rita B. Witkowski. He married Rita on July 14, 1953. They came to Southern California in 1959 and retired to Northern Nevada in 2001. He received an Associate of Arts degree in Police Science from Glendale College and worked in transportation in the motion picture industry. Donald also worked as a reserve officer for the Burbank Police Department, was in the Mounted Posse with the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department and worked in Search and Rescue for the Humboldt County Sheriff's Office. He enjoyed horse parading, flying his Cessna 182, riding his ATV and working with the Search and Rescue.

He is survived by his son Donald J. Arnold (Karen) and his daughter Marcia (Arnold) Taylor, nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers, Ron Arnold and Bob Kolody; sister, Diane Kolody and Charles and Pat Renn, his uncle and aunt. He was preceded in death by his wife Rita, his father Donald K. Arnold, his mother Dorothy Arnold and his sister, Carol (Arnold) Pancher.

Funeral services were held at 9 a.m. Thursday, June 28, 2012, at the Albertson Funeral Home. Burial took place at the Winnemucca Cemetery. The family requests that donations be made to Humboldt Volunteer Hospice and/or the Humboldt County Sheriff's Office Search and Rescue team. The family would like to thank Humboldt Volunteer Hospice staff, the Humboldt County Sheriff's Office Search and Rescue, the attending physicians and nurses at Humboldt General Hospital and a special thanks to Curtiss Kull, Tom Casey, Ed Kilgore, Ken Lutzow, Rupert McKinzie and Karen Lovelace.
